The Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home

Welcomes You

Updated 03/21/2020

Edward M. Stanimer, owner and licensed manager of the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home announces his plan of action regarding the current COVID-19 event. This will be updated with any new information as it becomes available.

  • The funeral home is closely monitoring and following the guidelines from the CDC, National Funeral Directors Association, the NYS Funeral Directors Association as well as state and local emergency contingencies.
  • We have implemented new measures to help protect and accommodate all guests who enter our facilities to ensure the safety and comfort while honoring their loved ones.
  • Effective Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 8PM any service held at the funeral home will be limited to immediate family only. We can still hold services and your family can still attend. The funeral home provides “essential services necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operations of residences or other essential businesses; vendors that provide essential services or products”- Governor Cuomo.
  • What do we consider “immediate family”? N.Y.S is giving us the flexibility to determine this on a case by case basis. We will include spouse, children, grandchildren and dependent on family size, siblings, their spouses and any next-of-kin.
  • The Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home is now offering “split services” to accommodate the larger families at no additional cost to the family. This will give everyone in these families the opportunity to attend services at the funeral home.
  • We ask that you limit physical contact as much as possible (hand shaking, hugging, etc.) while attending any service at our facility. We encourage “social distancing” at all times while in our facilities.
  • In order to avoid compromising the health of our guests, please leave online condolences on our website. The funeral home will print them and give them to the family. If you are not feeling well or are concerned about contact with others, we encourage you to use this resource.
  • We are routinely sanitizing all areas of our facilities.
  • We are taking extra precautions with transferring decedents to ensure all parties and institutions involved will not have unnecessary contact or unlikely transfer of any virus by following routine infection prevention, control procedures and practicing universal precautions.
  • “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much” – Helen Keller

Edd Stanimer and his staff are here to serve, protect, and honor each family that calls upon us, along with our greater community. We feel it is our duty to be flexible with each family that we serve and cater to their specific needs. I deeply appreciate your trust under this situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 607-263-5795.
