John L. Pegg, 72, of Morris, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. John was born on October 20, 1947 in Oneonta; a son of the late Lloyd and Gladys (Sammis) Pegg. On August 15, 1970 he married Patricia Cursh. He proudly served our country in the United States ARMY during the Vietnam War.

For many years John was employed by Upstate Companies 1, LLC in Mt. Upton as a truck driver. He retired from being a transportation supervisor for New Berlin Central School. John was a member and past-treasurer of the Morris VFW Post 1417, the Mid-State Stock Car Club (raced the #12 car) and was once on the New Lisbon Town Board. John had many friends and enjoyed sharing his mornings with the coffee shop crew. His vibrant personality brought happiness to those who knew him best.

John is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter, Laura Pegg; son, John W. Pegg; grandchildren, Natasha (John) Pegg, Evin (Ona) Bodie and Samuel Tuttle; sisters, Barbara (John) Smith, Janet (Randy) Borchardt and Paula (Tom) Cone and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visitation hours at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad Street, Morris on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 10AM – 1PM.

Memorial contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Morris VFW Post 1417, 314 Ellis Rd, Laurens, NY 13796.

His family has entrusted his care to the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.
